Carnival: The Aftermath and Sushi!!!

So we started our journey once again at the bus shelter near Lailai's house but it seemed that normal service has yet to be resumed after the carnival. We waited and waited and........waited. The bus never came and so we moved to another bus stop and after a total of 30 minutes we finally got on the bus and made our way into the centre of Maastricht.

We went to the Kaishu Japanese restaurant after doing some shopping around the town. Here we see ZhengDe enjoying a nice glass of cola after walking in circles around the town!

Here are some pictures of the nice food we enjoyed. A nice seaweed starter, miso soup, sushi and sashimi, chicken teriyaki, 18 pieces of sushi and pork teriyaki. Needless to say it was very tasty! 很好吃!

The carnival in Maastricht had ended but some people had trouble letting go and there were still some refuges available for the carnival goer that still had not had enough. But those bars were in the minority and the streets were largely deserted. It was only these few bars that broke the silence of the night with carnival music. What were heard were the death throws of this party. It was such a big change from the previous four days of partying and celebration.

After all the shopping had been done and all the food and drink consumed, Zhende once again took up his role as the donkey and carried all the bags home! HEE-HAW!

On the way home we saw these three jokers sitting in the window laughing at us! These are part of the decorations that you can see in the shop windows here for the carnival. Soon they will be all gone and it will be back to business as usual.

In the centre of town we saw that the shops are beginning to stock chocolate eggs and rabbits for Easter and so I could not resist and I bought one. I may add that this particular species of rabbit is highly endangered when in our presence. Here is a photo of the rabbit as he was when we brought him home! As you can see he is safe and unharmed. I wish I could say he stayed that way!

At first we played with our new pet and here we see Lailai posing for a photo with him but temptation proved to be too much...

As this photo was taken Lailai was in the process of taking a bite out of this poor defenceless animal. He never really stood a chance! Poor guy!

By the time I got him you can see that part of his ear is missing and he is in a state of shock! However at this point I too could feel the urge to bite into the poor rabbit and have a taste of that sweet chocolate!

Tasty ears! Tasty chocolate rabbit ears! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Let the feast begin! Nothing quite like chocolate rabbit ears in February. Chocolicious!

Can't talk......eating. 我很喜欢吃巧克力!

Here is the after picture. No ears! What will become of the rest of this delicious rabbit? Want to see him saved? Then send your money donations to us! hehe

Two little ducks made of marshmallow! Lailai's new contact lenses. 嘻嘻嘻

Oh some nice drinks to help celebrate the new year. This is lychee wine (荔枝酒). It was a little strong and so we added some real 荔枝 to it.

At last ZhengDe and LaiLai finally get to relax together! GAN BEI! (干杯)!! Hope everyone is enjoying their day, 荔枝酒 and Japanese sake are waiting here for you all! hehe
Take care everybody!
